Syngap Family Day

Fusion - art meets science

We are working with Fusion on an ongoing art exhibition, showcasing the families engaged with the Patrick Wild Centre.

The theme for the exhibition is “My Life” and is centred around art work inspired by life with a genetic condition.

Working groups

High-quality engagement is a two-way process with the goal of generating mutual benefit between the public and researchers and ultimately enhancing the quality or impact of research.

We run working groups of parents and caregivers of people with fragile X and SYNGAP1 which aim to:

  • consult and listen to public views, better informing researchers on the public’s views and concerns about their research, an opportunity to hear fresh perspectives and insights.
  • promote opportunities for wider dialogue between the research community and representative groups.
  • provide advice to the Patrick Wild Centre on their research

Family conferences

The Patrick Wild Centre was opened largely because of our collaboration with families who wanted to support our research. Every year we support two family conferences working alongside the UK Fragile X Society and SYNGAP1 – UK.

These are a great way to meet families and to build community. We share current research news, have talks from experts in the field on practical help for families and have families share their own stories.

Laboratory tours

An opportunity for community members interested in our work to come meet with key members of the team to learn more about what we do.
