Dr Alfredo Gonzalez-Sulser, Dr Lindsey Mizen, Dr Damien Wright & PhD student Sydni Weissgold attended and presented at the Syngap1 UK Family Day in Manchester in October 2024.
The annual Syngap1 UK conference is a time for the UK Syngap1 community to connect and build a supportive community, and for updates on the latest research to be shared by The Patrick Wild Centre and SIDB researchers.
The 2024 conference, hosted at Seashell Royal School in Manchester, had a full day of presentations from researchers across the UK, parents, communication services, and members of Syngap1 UK. Of particular note, Lindsey Mizen and Alfredo Gonzalez-Sulser presented the results from their research projects, looking at the effects of Syngap1 on sleep and Sydni Weissgold also presented the findings from her study, looking into the behaviour and physiology in SYNGAP1 individuals. Damien Wright presented the results from his NeuroGD study which looked at the clinical and mental profile of individuals with SYNGAP through behaviour assessments, eye tracking and EEG.
Aside from the talks, other activities at this year’s conference included visits from Disney princesses Anna & Elsa and Spiderman, arts & crafts stations, cookie decorating stations, and swimming.
