Sheelagh completed her foundation medical training in London, before moving to Edinburgh to settle in 2017. She was awarded with a merit in ePortfolio and audit in South Thames during her training, as well as a distinction in third year of her medical degree in Glasgow. She is currently working as a GP in Edinburgh.
Sheelagh is a member of the Scottish Steering Committee of the Brain Tumour Charity – advocating for Scottish patients in this area of inequality, including at the Scottish Parliament. She has also been accepted on to the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur program with the aim of making changes and improvements for people living with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1).
Current research includes working with the Patrick Wild Centre on a project inviting GP’s to complete a survey examining the confidence of Scottish GPs in managing adult patients with NF1. The study aims to understand GP attitudes, confidence, and training needs to help improve future care for patients with NF1.
